The Story of the First Rose Goddess

Many years ago, a young princess lived in a far off land.  Here in this land, the princess lived in a castle. The princess was very happy in her castle, but she didn’t have many friends.  Her father the king was perplexed about his daughter not having friends, and he felt sad that she might be lonely.  One day, the king decided to create a wonderful rose garden, for his daughter.  The king went to find Harold the wizard.  The king knew Harold could create a rose garden and a rose goddess to watch over it for his daughter.

It took several months for the King’s men to find Harold for he was traveling around the kingdom practicing his magic.

Back at the castle, Harold walks into meet with the king.  Harold was very tired from traveling, but he liked the king and he was anxious to learn the reason why the king had sent his men to bring him back to the castle.

The king greets Harold, “Ah, my good wizard, Harold, so good to have you return.”

Harold answers, “I am tired from the journey, but I am pleased to be back at your castle.  Also, I would like to learn why you have sent for me.”

Meanwhile, the princess walks through the castle, to exercise for the day.  She has her day nurse, and 3 little dogs that walk with her.  The little dogs are very cute.  At least one of the dogs is barking at all times during the walk.  All the barking makes the day nurse slightly nervous.  The princess is happy, but just a little lonely.

The King says to Harold, “My daughter the princess is very lonely.  I sent for you to create a beautiful rose garden, and the garden needs a rose goddess to watch over it.”

The king adds, “The rose goddess will keep the roses blooming and this will keep my daughter happy and from being lonely.”

Harold replies, “Ah, now I understand.  Let me see what I can do about creating this lovely rose garden for you and the princess.

Even though Harold is tired from traveling, he goes out onto the castle steps and begins to create a rose garden.  Just like that the beautiful rose garden appears.

The king exclaims, “I am so pleased with the rose garden.”

Harold answers, “But the rose goddess will have to wait until tomorrow, for I am weary today.”

The king lowers his head and says, “I understand, I will be anxiously awaiting the first rose goddess of our kingdom tomorrow.”

Both Harold and the king retired for the night.  However, the princess was up late playing with her little dogs, and writing in her diary, which she did every night.  Finally, the princess became so tired she could not stay awake, so she crawled into her lovely feather bed to sleep and dream.  The little dogs jumped on the bed to lay and sleep beside her.

When the king arose the next morning, he peered out the palace window to view the beautiful rose garden.  To the kings amazement, standing in the rose garden at the end of the lavender roses, was a beautiful woman.  The king puts on his robe and shoes very quickly.  He walks into the rose garden to talk to the beautiful woman.  The king addresses her saying,”This is my rose garden, and my castle, and my lands.  May I ask who you are and what you are doing here?”  The beautiful woman replies, “I am Rosewaren, the rose goddess of your rose garden.  I bring positive thoughts and energy to your rose garden, so the roses will grow and flourish.”

The king takes the hand of the beautiful Rosewaren and says, “I’m so glad you are here.  My daughter the princess will not be lonely no more”

It was true, the princess loved the rose garden and Rosewaren the rose goddess, for within one year Rosewaren had married the king and became the princess’s stepmother.  The king, the princess, Harold the wizard, and Rosewaren the first rose goddess lived happily ever after.  The End

Night Rhythms of the Earth

 by Charlene Potter

Night Rhythms of the Earth I feel you.

I hear you purr, or the oceans roar.

You lull me into sleep as I sway side to side.

You pull me into dreams,

with the Rhythmic beat of your heart.

I find peace in your beauty.

And, I rest in the comfort of your Rhythms.

Bees by Charlene Potter

Mother Earth ask where have the bees gone?

I tell her I do not know.

Mother Earth tells me,

what will I tell the flowers?

and I tell her I do not know.

I ask Mother Earth,

where have all the colors gone?

 and she tells me,

I do not know.

Rose Color of the Evening

by Charlene Potter

The rose color of the evening

sweeps the land,

with hues of pink, peach, and mauve

as night approaches.

Blue, Indigo, and violet cover

the hillsides.

The land sleeps while we dream of a new day.
